Ingredients for chicken with chickpeas

  • 1 skinless chicken, chopped
  • 1 jar of chickpeas
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon thyme …
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Olive oil (approximately 5 tablespoons)
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation of chicken with chickpeas

The preparation is super simple, it really takes more time to clean the chicken and chop it, but you can always buy it already clean (in this case it can be 2 small breasts) and it will save you time.

Here we go: First, remove the skin from the chicken and cut it into small pieces (3 cm approx) myself, I take advantage and bone it at once.

Second: We chop the onion into slices and the small garlic and fry it in the olive oil in a deep pan so that the chicken fits. After two minutes, we add the chicken along with the salt, pepper, thyme, bay leaf and rosemary. We stir and let cook until golden.

At this point with the chicken already golden brown, we add the chickpeas that I previously strained in the sink under running water to remove the liquid in which they are preserved … it is not that it is bad but they are lighter. I prefer them in a jar since they are cooked and it saves us a lot of time in the kitchen.

Stir well and cook for approximately 10 minutes. Always try them, correct for salt if necessary.

Chickpea benefits

Chickpeas, which are also super rich, have endless benefits: They constitute a very complete food and their nutrients are of great help for those of us who do physical activity and for those who want to have a healthy and balanced diet.

They have a percentage of carbohydrates similar to cereals, which can reach 55%. source of energy that at the same time has 19% protein.

In addition to this, chickpeas contain fiber that helps reduce cholesterol and reduces the increase in blood glucose.

Among its vitamins they have: those of the B complex, such as folic acid, vitamin B3, B1 and B2, all of these essential for the adequate production of energy by favoring the metabolization of carbohydrates, so that ATP is finally generated (the main energy unit of the muscle).

Among the minerals they contain we find: potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium, iron and zinc.
Another of its advantages is that chickpea can be a great alternative for people with celiac disease, who can consume it as such and also its flour.
